Background Story

The Rajan family wanted a dining table that would be the centerpiece of their home. They chose bigleaf maple for its dramatic figure and curl, paired with a deep teal epoxy river that flows through the natural live edges and voids of the slab.

Challenges

Large-format epoxy pours require precise temperature control, careful void sealing, and patience during the multi-day cure. The highly figured maple needed CNC surfacing to reveal the full depth of the curl pattern without tearout, followed by progressive hand sanding and finishing.

Outcome

The finished table pairs the warmth and movement of bigleaf maple with a striking teal river that catches light from every angle. It was built to be used daily and admired for years, combining fine woodworking with modern resin artistry.
